Pre-Nursing

Why develop a pre-nursing program? The Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that "...registered nurses are projected to generate 587,000 new jobs, among the largest number of new jobs for any occupation" in the coming years.

The Pre-Nursing Program is for any student who would like to explore a career in the medical or nursing field. As with all of our academic programs at Nawa Academy, the Pre-Nursing Program will accommodate both conventional students and those with learning differences. A multi-layered, experiential (hands-on) approach to high school coursework allows students in this program to be exposed to various aspects of the health care industry, while taking their academic courses for a complete and engaging curriculum. Through this experiential approach to education, participants will be prepared to enter an AA, or RN program or pursue a post-secondary education leading to a wide range of health-care careers.

The Nawa Academy Pre-Nursing Program will open: September, 2010. Up to 14 students in grades 9 and 10 will be admitted into this program for the 2010 - 2011 school year. By 2012, students will be enrolled in all four years of our Pre-Nursing program. Volunteer opportunities and experiences in various health care settings will begin locally and progress to extended domestic and international destinations.
