College and Transitional Counseling

We recognize that the process of selecting and applying to the right college or university is overwhelming for many families. Our goal is to facilitate a transition for each graduate that best matches needs, interests, support, and the opportunity for success. To accomplish this, our Dean's Department works with juniors (grade 11) and seniors (grade12) to identify the right fit.

We Base Our Recommendations On

1. Identifying the goals and aspirations of the student
2. Input from our faculty and staff
3. Feedback from the family
4. Academic strengths and identified areas of growth
5. Learning modalities
6. Personality, talents and interests

College Counseling includes

1. Identifying the aspirations of each student
2. Scheduling SAT examinations
3. Guidance in researching options
4. Advice on selecting colleges and universities that best fit the needs and goals of each student
5. Guidance with the application process and application deadlines
6. Guidance with writing essays
7. Assisting with scheduling visits to college or university campuses
8. Exposing students to college and university campuses and college fairs
9. Simplifying the process for the student and the family
10. Aid in organizing access to supportive services in the collegiate environment

The academic success that our students experience expands their options and opens doors that may have been previously closed.

1. A four year public university with a large student body (i.e.: CSU)
2. A four year private liberal arts university or college with a smaller student body (i.e.: Chapman University)
3. A four year specialized university or college with a very small student body (i.e.: Prescott College)
4. A program that specializes in transitioning to college
5. A two year community college
6. A trade school or occupational program
7. A gap year program
